Our Story

Tropical Rwenzori Farmers’ Cooperative Society Limited is a farmers enterprise that was established  in Bundibugyo District, Western Uganda  in the year 2017 as a small cocoa farmers  group of 8  farmers who had decided to come together  to bulk their cocoa and sale it collectively in order to  gain better prices and more profits as a result of exploitation by middlemen .The founders included  5 women and 3 men.

By 2020 more than 80 farmers had joined the group prompting management to turn the group into a farmer’s co-operative society and finally registered in 2022. 

. Currently, the Cooperative has a membership of 1525 members organized in 44 groups across the District with around 853 female members representing 56% and 672 males representing 44%.

The cooperative give services to its members tailored to their specific needs and goals and these include:-better markets, Education and Training in organic farming, climate smarter agriculture, Good Agricultural Practices, bulking for collective marketing, access to finance, digital technology and knowledge. We also train them in Governance, financial management and record keeping. Our last year annual turnover was USH, 10,379,335,494 with a gross margin of USH, 191,683,375.Our primary commodity that we produce and  sell is Cocoa, while secondary commodities are coffee and Vanilla
